Rick Genest,  AKA “Zombie Boy” is the icon for fashion house Thierry Mugler. The 26 year-old, punk rocker from Canada began his skeletal, tattoo transformation after a bout with depression following his brain tumor surgery. Shortly after that, he was discovered by Nicola Formichetti who happens to be the creative director for Thierry Mugler and Lady Gaga’s stylist. He gained instant notoriety when he appeared in Gaga’s music video, ‘Born This Way.’ His look is intriguing and designers everywhere are vying for his attention. He was recently seen in the front row of the DSquared Fashion Show in Milan. Rumor has it that he’s working on a music project and a contract with Universal.

He may look like a corpse, but this hot zombie can chase me through the night of the living dead anytime.

Although Michelle Williams didn’t win for “Best Actress”, she definitely won “Best Dressed” in my book! The star looked perfect in her blood orange, Louis Vuitton, peplum gown. I love the diamond, bow pin at the side of her waist paired with a classic diamond choker by Forevermark. This look is stunning and she wears it well with her pixie hair cut and milky-white skin. She added just enough pop of color with her pink Bottega Veneta clutch. Well done Michelle, you owned the red carpet last night!

“Let’s play Barbies”, was my favorite thing to hear when I was growing up. My BFF and I would spend hours dressing Barbie in all of her outfits and setting up her entire world on my living room floor. And, it never failed, just when we had finished decorating Barbie’s Town House (we saved the best for last), my mom would yell from the kitchen, “OK girls, time to clean up!”

We would beg and plead, “Just 10 more minutes!” And depending on if we weren’t chasing my brothers around and screaming at them for ripping our doll heads off, we might get an extra 10 minutes to dress Barbie up for her camping trip.

(I often wonder if my fashion addiction started as early as three years old when I received  my first Barbie?)

During New York’s Fashion Week, Mattel created a larger-than-life Barbie Dream Closet to celebrate the launch of a new advertising campaign called “See What Happens When You Play With Barbie.” The 9,000 square foot closet had a three story shoe rack loaded with pink heels (360 to be exact) and real-life Barbie models. The campaign focuses on Barbie’s fashion credentials and the computer program allows you to design T-shirts and try on Barbie’s iconic wardrobe. The company also plans to start a clothing line that will be revealed on their BarbieWow website.

I have to admit that I will still be playing Barbies, only this time it will be from my iPad and no clean-up necessary.

Dress Up

For some of you this may be old news, but for me, I’m still on a hot pink high! Betsey Johnson had several lines at MAGIC, including; clothing, handbags and shoes, so she made a special, guest appearance for her buyers. Her booth consisted of black and white checkered flooring, zany, over-the-top, pink, tufted chairs with ginormous rhinestones and a graffiti backdrop. She served pink champagne, gave away hot pink totes, and was the most gracious host. Since Roadkill Ranch carries her shoes, we had a nice chat about kitten heels and pin-up inspired footwear. I must have told her I loved her at least 5 times. Her magnetic personality dominated the room and I could feel the creative energy oozing from her soul. Betsey has been an inspiration to me for years, so meeting one of my favorite, cultural icons on Valentine’s Day was better than sex!
