I’m intrigued and inspired by Iris Apfel. The 90 year-old fashion maven was recently the muse for MAC Cosmetics, and now she is launching her own handbag line called “Extinctions”. She uses materials like Mongolian lamb, calf hair and snake skin. The bags are dramatic and eccentric just like Iris herself and the tortoise logo, hang tag is a dodo bird. “It’s an odd bird, like me.” Said Apfel. The bags are roomy and oversized, and according to Iris there will not be any tiny clutches or small collections. She jests that her signature style, round-rimmed glasses are so huge, that they won’t fit into anything small or dainty. This woman gives me hope─ she never ceases to amaze me with her ongoing creativity and design. Age is of no barrier to her and I hope that when I’m 90, I have just as much passion and zest for life as she does. Roadkill Girls love you Iris!
