Macy’s has been on a roller coaster ride in terms of profitability for the past few years. But the mass retailer reported a strong 38% increase for the first quarter. According to CFO Karen Hoguet, “The strategic investments we are making are working and we continue to find new strategies to grow.”
And now the fun fair is about to begin. They are looking to Nicole Richie (the reality TV star turned designer) as their hot ticket to develop a cool and hip line exclusively for their Impulse department. She is working on inserting her personal “boho-chic” style into items like maxi dresses, asymmetrical skirts, cropped tops and fitted jackets. The prices will range from $49.00 to $149.00, and the collection will debut in 100 Macy’s stores and online in September.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Macy’s and create a collection that channels the individual artist in all of us,” said Richie.
I can’t wait to see the color choices and the fabric prints of her designs. And, if they really unleash my inner artist, then I’ll skip the amusement park (my normal mojo thriller) and start donning Nicole’s creations.
