This outfit reminds me of when I was growing up in Anaheim, Ca. during the ’70s. Bright colors, rainbow wedges, lightning bolt earrings and heart-shaped sunglasses were all a part of my wardrobe. My BFF and I thought we were “Charlie’s Angels”, so we would lurk around the neighborhood (fashionably of course) collecting evidence and taking pictures of “mysterious” people and things. And we did crack a few cases. We caught my brother Bob putting fire crackers into the gas tank of Nana’s car and we stopped “Frizzy” (that was the nick name for the white kid down the street with an afro) from stealing a motorcycle. Yep, even though we ran away screaming when “Frizzy” caught us taking pictures of the “mysterious” bike he had parked in front of our house, we still accomplished our mission–our moms told his mom and the rest was history. We feathered our hair, slathered on the lip gloss and owned the block. It’s interesting how fashion icons from the ’70s are becoming popular once again. If I had the chance to live it all over again I would in a heartbeat. But for now, I can remember the days of my youth through todays fashion.
