I love everything about fall, the cooler weather, the warmer clothes, the hot drinks, the cozy fireplaces, the mountain getaways, pumpkin spice everything (OK maybe that’s getting old), but you get the idea, and plaid! Just as the seasons change, so do our wardrobes, and plaid is always a traditional staple. I’m not saying you can’t wear plaid during the other months, there are tons of cute gingham and light-colored combos available, but those big buffalo plaids and classic tartans just scream fall!

After viewing  some of the runway shows, I was glad to see the checkered styles with new twists. Look for high-low cuts and flounce detailing on blouses and jackets. Pair your traditional tartans with heavy studded jewelry and thick chains for a punkish vibe, or wear an all-over coat dress with short boots for a cool, indie look.

We think men look sexy in plaid too (that’s why Roadkill Ranch is the number one Pendleton distributor in Orange County)! Wear your Pendleton alone or layer with a white T-shirt for a dapper look.

The first picture is from the Chanel runway show.

The second picture is from the Tommy Hilfiger collection.

The third picture is M Missoni’s ad campaign.

The fourth picture is Sydney Beaver modeling for Roadkill Ranch & Boutique. We think our photo shoot is better than Missoni. (We’re not biased or anything.)

The last two pictures are of our stylish man friends (Matt Brady and Joshua Titus), modeling Pendleton shirts for Roadkill Ranch & Boutique.

So grab a good book, a good cup O’Joe and get cozy somewhere (in your plaid of course). Because fashion is a feeling, and you deserve to feel fab!

PS Take quick advantage of  this weather, tomorrow may be 80 degrees again (blogging from a cute leopard chair in Fullerton, California).

Double Trouble

Two bags are better than one. It’s true, Fendi, Chanel, Chloe, Mulberry and Louis Vuitton all say so!

The trend of toting two bags at the same time is coming in hard this season. Designers are featuring larger silhouettes like a tote or travel bag as a focal point and then accessorizing with a smaller pouch or clutch. Brilliant! Thanks Fashion Industry! Now all of us fashion addicts can purchase two designer bags at once without feeling guilty and be totally justified.

The first picture is Fendi, a functional and easy look to achieve. Add a tiny novelty bag to the outside of a larger one for a funky look.

The second picture is Chanel. Drape a few cross-body bags over your bodice while carrying your main purse. (It’s all the rage.)

The third picture is Chloe. Just carry two in the same hand (no big deal).

The fourth picture is Mulberry. Cross-body over bodice and tote in hand. (My fave.)

The fifth is Louis Vuitton. Just do it, carry two (everyone’s doing it).

This is one sure way to drive handbag sales up for the season. Pretty soon we’ll see designer shoes hanging off of designer bags. Then we can buy two pair of designer shoes, one to wear on our feet and the other to accessorize our two bags. Woot!

And, if anyone tells you that you have too many handbags or shoes, get rid of that person! You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life! The only extra baggage you need is CHANEL!

Cat Scan

Karl Lagerfeld , the head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel, recently told reporters that he has fallen in love. With his cat!
The Siamese feline named Choupette has captured Karl’s heart and he spares no cost in pampering her.
“She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled.” Said Lagerfeld.
The kitty also has a full-time scribe whose job is to watch her every move and document it in a diary. From what she ate to how she behaved, and whether she was tired or not; Karl wants to know everything the cat does when he’s not there. “I would marry her if I could.” Claims Karl.
Choupette Lagerfeld even has her own Twitter account @ChoupettesDiary.
Her bio reads:
I’m a famous beauty who refuses to eat on the floor & my maids pamper my every need. I am Choupette Lagerfeld and I am a spoiled pussy.
What’s next? Long walks on the beach? A 10 karat diamond ring? I love you Karl, but you’ve definitely given new meaning to the term “pussy whipped.”

Ice Cream Crazy

I  love it when people think my ideas are crazy and then someone super- f**king-awesome like Karl Lagerfeld does something in the same vein!  I’ve been on an ice cream kick for a while and my creative team and I transformed the boutique into a parlor-like feel with ice cream cone sculptures and sherbet hues.
I had shared my window ideas with a few people before I went forward and they rolled their eyes like I was a lunatic and gave me a negative vibe (which is why I tend to keep my visions to myself). I’ve learned to go with my gut! And, I’m so glad I did on this.
Oh! Wow! Look! Karl Lagerfeld made ice cream shoes for the brand Melissa. (Does happy dance.) He must have been on an ice cream kick too.
I’m sure the “Debby-Downers” are all having brain freezes right now. As for me, I’m having two scoops of confidence sprinkled with dreams.
PS I love my team!!!

Lego Lagerfeld

chanel-lego_1chanel-lego_3 chanel-lego_4

Sometimes I can’t help but play army men, Legos, cars, and everything else that comes with having a seven-year-old son. But lately, I’ve been thinking to myself that I’ve been spending too much time playing games and should probably grow up a bit. Then, Chanel came out with these Lego-inspired clutches during Paris Fashion Week, so now I’m justified!!! Woo Hoo!!!

I wonder if Karl Lagerfeld sits at home and plays with Legos too? That’s probably why they’re available in a rainbow of colors. Because every child (at heart) knows that playing with just one Lego is boring. And, that’s exactly how I’m going to justify the purchases of the green, the clear and the red. I want to build a fort!  (The army men need a place to hide.)

Happy Monday!

Hula Hooper!

Are you a “Hula Hooper”? When I  was growing up in Anaheim, my BF and I used to have Hula Hoop contests to see who could keep the plastic ring going around our waists the longest. We loved the hoop, it was the best invention ever. We would toss it high up in the air and catch it like professional ringleaders. We would somersault through it, jump rope with it, and we eventually mastered the “cool kids” trick by spinning it strategically down the sidewalk so it would come back to us. Those were the days!

We thought of a lot of things to do with the hoop, but never thought to make it into a handbag. Shame on us! I’m glad Karl Lagerfeld decided to do it. (Of course anything with a Chanel label looks good.)

I love the concept and I love the look, but unfortunately, it’s just not functional for me (or anyone) now that I’m a grown up.

I’d do anything to have my Hula Hoop days back. It was a time where nothing else mattered but playing outside all day, running through the sprinklers and performing Hula Hoop tricks.

I’m glad some things never get old. And thank you Karl Lagerfeld for channeling the young at heart in all of us!

Karl for President!

Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director for Chanel, has accused President Francoise Hollande of destroying France’s economy by taxing the rich. He even went as far as to call the Socialistic leader an “idiot”!

“This idiot will be as disastrous as Zapatero was,” Lagerfeld said in an interview with the Spanish edition of glossy fashion magazine Marie Claire published on Friday.

“It’s a disaster. He wants to punish (the rich) and of course they leave and no one invests,” he said. “Foreigners don’t want to invest in France and that’s just not going to work.”

“Outside of fashion, jewelery, perfume and wine, France isn’t competitive,” Lagerfeld said. “The rest of our products don’t sell. Who buys French cars? I don’t.”

Dr. Mr. Lagerfeld,

Please come to the US and explain your concept. Your vision is profound! Better yet, please run for President. You’ve got my vote!

PS And while you’re here, stop by my store (Roadkill Ranch & Boutique in Fullerton), I have something for you!

Ocean’s 11

Many designers are drawing their inspiration this summer from the deep, blue sea. Look for vibrant colors mixed with sea creature images and soft, frothy hues with pearl-esque accessories. Leave it to Chanel to create a water-world runway show and Givenchy bites off the trend with gigantic, shark tooth jewelry. Here’s my 11 favorite oceanic-inspired looks for the season. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
