Snake Charmer

After viewing some of the runway collections from The Resort 2014 Show, it’s safe to say that snake skins are in! From traditional snake prints, to colored skins, to small accessories, the look is hissing it’s way through the fashion industry.

I’m in love with the first ensemble by Roberto Cavalli. The blue and green tones add a bit of romance and femininity to the look. Perfect for daytime play dates.

The second outfit is a Diane von Furstenberg classic; always chic and always timeless. This look is bold and beautiful, yet emulates a playful vibe. Perfect for that cocktail party after work.

The third picture is Michael Kors. I love the sleek, seriousness of the suit accessorized with just enough venom accessories to intimidate the predator. Wear this when negotiating your next biting investment deal.

When making purchases this season, look for the snake, it’s got longevity and won’t be slithering out of sight any time soon.

Happy Monday!

Confessions of a Fashion blogger

It was such an honor to be invited to “TweetUp” the VIP Blogger Convention in Orange County. The event was held at “The Outlets at Orange” (formerly known as “The Block”), and was not only a fashion gathering, but also a meeting to raise awareness about the outlets and the shopping center’s official name change.

Café Tu Tu Tango and Lascari’s Italian Cucina offered up a delicious food spread. “Sweets from Heaven” had an irresistible, help-yourself, candy bar and the canned Perrier kept flowing all night.

We broke up into groups with tour guides and began to blog, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and film, as we were led to the major outlets for some fun and games.

Our first stop was Nordstrom Rack where they entertained us with a live fashion show and a trend report.

Next was Saks 5th Off where we were encouraged to match a pair of shoes to an outfit and post it to Instagram or Twitter. There were prizes for the first tweets, but I kept getting sidetracked with all of the amazing shoes at great prices and lagged a bit in the contest. My “Shiny Object Syndrome” was kicking in and the glass chandeliers became a point of interest.

It wasn’t until we got to Neiman Marcus Last Call when my ADD overtook me. We were supposed to run around the store and find orange signs that depicted the fall trends. The first person to find them all would win a prize. But, I was completely stopped in my tracks, when I literally ran into a Chanel gown covered in sequins and beads. The gown was displayed in a glass case right smack in the middle of the hard aisle. So, it was pretty much a roadblock for me not finishing the scavenger hunt first.

It got even worse after that, Michael Kors bags were calling my name; Kate Spade pumps were jumping out at me; and the Rachel Zoe dress I tried on was AWESOME!!! Oops, I meant the Rachel Zoe dress I was “going” to try on was awesome. Oh, what’s the point of hiding it? The real reason I didn’t come in first was because I took a detour into the dressing room. There, I said it! Can you blame me? That’s what happens when you throw a fashion addict into a sea of discounted, designer goods! That reminds me, I better get back to The Outlets at Orange, I still have some things on hold.

Fur Sure!

Fur Sure!
After hours of walking and talking fashion last week in Vegas, it’s safe to say that fur is a key player in this season’s line up. Look for fur handbags and clutches, colored, fur vests, and fur trim on everything from bracelets to shirt collars. Of course “real” fur is a faux pas, so pass on that (unless you want PETA lambasting and stalking you) and stick with the fun, colorful, synthetic pieces.

Timeless Tortoise

Timeless Tortoise
Tortoise shell accessories are a timeless classic. I’ve had the same pair of tortoise sunglasses by Fendi for three years and they still look great. I’m excited to see major designers like Michael Kors and Christian Dior using the material for their Fall 2012 collections. Look for chunky bracelets, chain necklaces and accents on handbags and shoes. When purchasing accessories for the summer, consider tortoise. Since it’s not seasonal, it will transition nicely into your fall wardrobe. I’m skipping the neon trend and going straight to tortoise shell for longevity. Now, I just have to figure out a way to get these DSquared pumps with the blocked heels (featured above) into my closet without being hassled when I get home from shopping about, “What’s in the bag?”
I know!  I’ll pay the neighborhood kid to leave them on my doorstep with a note that reads, “From your secret admirer.”  That way I won’t have to explain anything and the focus won’t be on the shoes, it will be on a secret admirer. OMG!!! I can’t believe I just thought of that! Perfect! Bwaahaaaaa (insert evil laugh).
